We’re gonna need a bigger boat!

There’s that old famous line from the movie Jaws. Fishermen at sea searching for the big catch.

So everytime Bonnie and I pray about this camp, for our organization, and for our family – it feels like something is about to happen. Sure things are moving forward here. Our language skills are developing, we are forming good relationships with people here, our heart for this country and place is growing, and we are beginning to be able to plant seeds of the gospel. But…And yes, it’s a big but… It feels like something else is unsettled.

Each time we think we have it figured out, each time I think I know what God has for us to be a part of here – the vision expands. Now it has exploded. Huge. The kind of vision you look at and say “Sure God, that’s a wonderful thought, how the heck are you gonna pull that off?!” God just smiles and says – “You said you would follow me, you said you can’t do anything on your own, you said you have a heart for the lost, you said your family wants to be used by me…well Aaron, You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

So at first we thought that the camp could have a part in sharing the gospel in the community. Then we thought that the camp could reach out to the providence. Then we thought the camp could reach out to the country. Then we thought that the country and the camp could reach out to North America, now we are seeing ways that the camp can be something that will have worldwide impact. Huge stuff.

Companies that want to test a new product or method often run a pilot program or a test run; test audiences, or test groups. I feel like God is putting things in our lap that we have a chance to test here, and we can define and inprove, and then possibly can be used to have a positive affect on the world with regards to people sharing and receiving the gospel. I can’t really put it into words exactly yet. We are begining again to pray and sort some things out. We do know this though, we’re gonna need lots of fisherman, and we’re gonna need a bigger boat. “He’s alive, he’s alive, he’s alive and I’m forgiven, heaven’s gates are open wide.” We want to see as many smiling faces with us as possible there.

I’ve said before I’m a man of action. I feel like if I sit around too long and just discuss and plan that time is being wasted. But with the magnitude of what could be, maybe some prep time is actually in order. Praying for patience and wisdom in the waiting and the planning. When it comes time to start casting the line and swinging the hammer – we will be ready.

John 3:16-18 the message “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

We want everyone to have the opportunity to make an informed decision to follow Christ. We were told to go and preach the gospel and make disiples. That’s what we want to do.
